Pasar Tobelo

Description

Pasar Tobelo is a competitive card game for 2–4 players (ages 7+) focused on teaching numeracy, basic operations (addition/subtraction), and real-world application through the theme of fulfilling banana orders in a market. Players take turns engaging in a push-your-luck mechanic, revealing Banana Cards (values 1–5) from a grid one by one while managing the risk of revealing Monkey Cards ($-1$ or $-2$) which reduce the total. The objective is to match a running banana total to one of the available Order Cards (6-15) and Claim! it, or risk a "Lanjut!" (Continue!) to aim for a higher order, though exceeding the maximum order results in a "Bust." Claimed orders are stored in a player's Depot until they choose the second action: Ship Orders, securing their value. The game ends when a player successfully ships three orders, and the winner is the one with the highest total monetary value from their shipped orders. —description from the designer
