The Bat of Dlamocles

Description

There is only one way out. Everyone knows it, everyone feels it, but… life goes on. You have to live before you die. And for you, that means getting close to your teammates, if only after a fashion. That means playing your hardest, and hoping for the Blessing that makes your team proud. That means continuing to play, even as your friends, confidants, rivals, lovers, all fall around you, replaced with strangers one by one… It hangs overhead. What will be remembered? What will be forgotten? One thing is certain. There is only one way out. My third and final project for the We Are All Love Blaseball game jam. The Bat of Dlamocles is a GM-less TTRPG for 2-4 players, who take on the role of the unusually embodied batters and pitchers of a Blaseball team on the way towards the only way out: incineration. The Bat of Dlamocles is also my attempt at exploring my feelings around the mainstreaming of Blaseball, and the ways I feel like I have to do the voices of the past justice in the face of an increasingly "normal" community. It's pretentious as hell, but then again when I'm this deep in my feelings I tend to be pretty dang pretentious so y'know.
